Gaylewinds is an 1985 Guy Couach 2200 (72’) motoryacht. Guy Couach is France’s leading manufacturer of gunships and yachts, being a prime supplier for the French Navy. Although it is a French brand, Gaylewinds is an AMERICAN MADE vessel, being built in 1985 at Guy Couach’s shipyard in Dania, Florida. Parts are all made to American standards. She is a high quality yacht, comparing favorably with Hatteras, Azimut, Cheoy Lee, Lazarra, Sunseeker, etc.
This very same model is still being built by Guy Couach in France today, and it’s cost new today exceeds $3 million. A current out of water marine survey is available upon request, and it appraised her at $507,000. We will sell her for $275,000 cash….that is 54% under current appraisal.
The third owner, I formerly was a boat dealer/broker for 34 years. I owned VIP Yachts Inc….the world’s largest Bluewater dealer/broker for 25 years. I retired about 4 years ago. I can assure you that with my past experience with boats, I would not own a boat personally that was not in exceptional condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. Gaylewinds has been our personal boat, not an inventory “for sale” boat.
Gaylewinds displaces 100,000#. This is because the ENTIRE hull is reinforced with Kevlar. In fact, her hull is the exact same hull as used for the French Navy’s 72’ gunship. It is the safest and smoothest riding boat I’ve ever owned.
Most used diesel boats smell like diesel when you enter…not this boat! Interior smells fresh and clean. And----no oily water in the bilge---it is dry.
NOTE: When I refer to “new” hereafter, I’m generally referring to when we had the major refit performed in 2004, when we bought GAYLEWINDS.
Just after purchasing Gaylewinds in 2004, we had a MAJOR REFIT performed by Harbor Towne Marine in Fort Lauderdale costing approximately $100,000….basically “de-saltizing” the boat (removing the past effects of saltwater use). The refit included, but was not limited to replacing electronics and instruments, new remote high power spotlight, installing new bow thruster (it previously did not have one), adding new large 110v engine room exhaust fans, adding new air seps, , replacing various hoses, fuel lines, risers, elbows, new Halon system, new antifouling bottom paint, straighten shafts and true props, new zincs and cutlass bearings, remove Jacuzzi on aft cockpit and enlarge cockpit deck, polish fuel and clean tanks, clean and dry bilges, check and tune both engines and both gensets, rebuild electrical producing end of 25kw genset, new steering system including hydraulic lines, replace 4 out of 7 heat/air units, new interior plush carpeting, new interior blinds, new custom bedspreads, draperies and decorative items, custom 24 carat gold gilded Venetian glass floor in salon head, new flat screen tvs, rebuild flybridge seating area, new Bimini top & enclosures.
Since we bought her in 2004, Gaylewinds has been berthed in FRESHWATER in a 20’x80’ COVERED SLIP at Fort Loudon Yacht Club in Knoxville, Tennessee, on the Tennessee River.
